About The Kansas Heritage Center

Thank you for your interest in the Heritage Center!

The Kansas Heritage Center is a nonprofit social studies resource center operated through Unified School District 443 in Dodge City, Kansas. Our emphasis is history — especially the history of Kansas, the Great Plains and the Old West. We maintain a research library of books, microfilm and vertical file materials.

We publish and sell books, posters, stickers, maps, bookmarks and other products. Our catalog includes materials from other sources, too. We specialize in Kansas books items, but we now offer Oklahoma books and items.

And, we have books and items relating to the Santa Fe Trail, Old West and pioneer life, Indians and children.

The Kansas Heritage Center staff
Jim Sherer has been Coordinator of the Kansas Heritage Center since 2000. Dave Webb has worked at the Center since 1984 and became Assistant Coordinator in 1992. Barbara Vincent, administrative assistant/ bookkeeper, joined the staff in 1991. Janice Scott has been librarian since 1995.
Available for Kansas schools and institutions
The lending section of our catalog lists programs in our video library plus teaching kits and other learning materials. We lend to schools, libraries and institutions — Kansas addresses only. We charge a small handling fee for this service.
